CHRISTIANITY IN INDIA
The present day christians in India are divided as Traditionalists and Converts. The division is as big like Confederates
and Unionists or Irish Catholics and Protestants.
There is a verse in the Bible...
"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he
is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves." -- Matt: 23:15
That has happened in India. We are being converted into Christianity to increase the number of christians in India and
use us to gain the ambitions of Traditional Christians.
Traditional Christians claims that they came from present day Syria and Iraq in 1st century A.D. They are in almost every
denominations and discriminate against the converts to Christianity. Even though Converted Christians form 90% of Indian Christians,
the minority Traditional Christians occupy and enjoy the resources of the church.
This site will detail all our issues and facts.

Why we took the name Converted Christians?
"Who are Converted Christians?" is the answer to this question.
Converted
Christians are also called by others as "Dalit Christians", the word Dalit meaning "Oppressed" or "Downtrodden". Who is oppressing
these christians? Hindus!! or Christians!!. Now why they are segregated by that name.
The Traditionalists or Syrians,
didnt accept the christian converts from Native Indians as equal to themselves. They didnt socialise with the converts or
engage in marital affairs. Converts are not allowed to marry Syrians unless they are rich or occupy a high position in the
society.
The Syrian Christians called the converts as "Backward Christians". But soon the converts protested against
it and they took the name "Converted Christians". After a period of agitation, the Govt. of India also accepted that name
and it is now officially accepted. But now the Syrians began to call the converts as "Dalit Christians". Why they want to
segregate the converts. They dont want to socialize with the converts, but they want to control them.
Most of the
churches in India accepts converts but segregate them.
In Catholic Church, they are called "Latin Catholic Christians",
while the Syrians are called "Roman Catholic Syrian Christians".
In the Orthodox Churches, the converts are called
"Sleeba Dasa (Servants of Cross) Christians" while the traditionalist are called "Malankara Syrian Christians".
In the Protestant churches including the Episcopal, Baptist and Pentacostal churches, the converts are called "Dalit
Christians" and the traditionalists are called "Syrian Christians".
Be want to call ourselves "Converted Christians". And we want others also to call us like that.
